My Role 👨🏽‍💻

At OpenText Corporation, as a Full-Stack Developer I had multiple responsibilities which include:

• Being one of the primary contributors to OpenText Core, a cloud-based file sharing and collaboration service
• Working as part of a collaborative and co-operative Agile team to maintain the application and implement new features with quality
• Contributing to help shape the future of OpenText Core, solve challenging problems, and assist your teammates in getting stuff done
• implementing new software features, fixing bugs, participating in design discussions, and assisting the Quality Assurance team with their test design and bug resolution activities

Impact on Collections 🖥️

I was part of the OT Engineering Team which has a major impact on the organization. I had:

• Developed a collections feature on OpenText core share, a cloud-based collaboration platform, using Node and AngularJS for 10,000+ enterprise users to manage their files effectively
• Wrote automated unit tests using Mocha to improve quality of code by reducing number of bugs by 15%
• Reduced database hits to optimize speed between the API and server which lead to a decrease in latency by 10ms
• Resolved critical customer issues related to UI and RESTful APIs by utilizing Postman to test API responses from a relational database to improve user experience
• Worked as part of a collaborative Agile development using Jira for issue management and Sprint planning to maintain the core share application

Learning Experience

Since this was my first internship I did not have much prior experience before this internship. I was offered the job based on my ability to learn new technologies I have interest in.

I was able to learn the in-dept concepts of AngularJS such as directives, controllers, dependency injections, services and testing. I had to make multiple edits to the directives, controllers and services that were assigned to collections so I followed the process of learning as I code to maximize results.

Node.js is a key component for the server-side of the application which I was able to learn during my time at OpenText. I had the chance to design and implement an API to remove resources from a collection. I had to implement the required policies, API route, the API functionality and the test cases to practice test driven development.
